Jordan Cronenweth Document

Sometimes, when I'm studying the work of another Cinematographer, I like to put together a simple document collecting some of the images they've created that I particularly admire. It helps me see the evolution of their lighting style over time and gives me a high benchmark to work towards in my own work.

One of my favourite cinematographers was Jordan Cronenweth, and given how little has been written about him over the years I found collating this document particularly useful as both a study guide and in gaining an an even greater appreciation of his work. I've attached it here in case others find it as useful as I did.

This should by no means be considered a definitive collection of his work, rather a work in progress. As and when further material presents itself I will try and revise the document, and hopefully one day we might see a more definitive biography from someone like the ASC press.

Great work, I'm also a huge fan of his cinematography! I once tried to recreate the red retina reflex effect he created for the androids by bouncing a light through a teleprompter in front of the lens, but I found it was very difficult. Have you ever seem a good technique to do this? My subject always adjusted to the light within a few seconds, and the red eye went away.

Not sure a teleprompter would work as well as the mirror. Havent ever used the technique myself sorry!
